Inquiry:  I was pulled over for speeding, but my licence was also expired for a few months. I was given a ticket for the expired licence, but forgiven for the speeding.

Isn’t it illegal to be pulled over for no reason to have my licence checked? Since I wasn’t charged with speeding, I’m wondering if it is worthwhile to contest the expired licence charge as being falsely obtained.

Response:  A Police Officer may pull over a vehicle to check for violations of the law.  In this case, the Officer may well have already known that your licence was expired after checking the licence plate.  If you would like to look at defending the remaining charge, we can review that in more detail with you via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.  We offer a free initial review of cases to provide some basic feedback.
