Inquiry:  I got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt a few days ago. My name is not spelled right on the ticket but also, the officer told me he could give me a speeding ticket which would involve demerit points but instead he was giving me the seatbelt ticket which does not cost any demerit points which I now realize is false information. Can I do anything about this to have the ticket revoked.

Response:  The incorrect spelling of the name would not likely be an issue as the ticket will also contain your driver’s licence number as a unique identifier.  The information from the Officer also has no impact on guilt or innocence should your matter be decided at trial based on the merits of the evidence.  However, that is not to say that you could have other defences to the the charge that could be looked at.  If you would like us to look at your case further, we offer a no-cost initial review of cases via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
