Inquiry:  i was stopped due to a headlight was off. it came back on while the officer was checking my license & my insurance was not valid. the light came back on an he just gave me a ticket for failure to show proof of insurance?? what are my rights as that was the only reason that i have to go to court??

Response:  Fortunately the Officer did not issue both charges.  If the headlight was originally out, regardless of whether it later came back on, the other charge would have been valid.  With insurance charges, we have to be careful about whether the charge states that you didn’t have insurance, or whether you simply did not surrender an valid insurance card (the former carrying very large fines).  If you would like to review the insurance related charge, we offer a no-cost initial review of cases via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
