Stunt Driving

Thank you for your inquiry.  Your questions are very important and are ones that we get quite often.  I would like to address them one by one in bullet point so it is easier for reading:

Q. If you got a ticket for stunt driving and in the ‘did commit the offence of’ section of a summons the police officer wrote: ‘racing a vehicle. Excessive speed’ but you were not racing does that help your case?

A. Exceeding the limit by 50 or more is defined as performing a ‘race’ or ‘contest’.  If you would like more information about the legal definition of stunt you can access it here:

Q. If you can not afford a lawyer or paralegal to fight in court what is the best option to have the ticket pled down to the speeding offense?

A. The only other option you would have if you cannot afford representation would be to attend yourself.  We would not advise that you do this though as there is almost always something that we can do to either have the charge eliminated or reduced and Stunt driving is a very serious charge both for insurance and your licence.  The fee that you will pay to a representative will save you much more in potential fines and insurance increases.

Q. Can you talk to a prosecutor or someone else prior to summons date so that you can plead down to speeding?

A. You Summons date is your court date so you or your representative will need to attend and schedule an appointment to discuss your case with the Prosecutor.

Our office offers a free consultation if you would like to discuss your case in further detail please call our main line at 1‑866-801-8299.
