Inquiry: G2 Driver. I recently was convicted of speeding and received 4 demerit points. I paid the ticket, and served the 30 day suspension. I was then caught speeding again.. The ticket is only for 15km/h over the limit meaning zero demerit points. I was wondering if because of my previous conviction, will they take my license away again?
Response: Speaking with an MTO clerk will provide you with the most accurate information. From the limited information you have provided, your initial 30 day suspension was due to ‘escalated sanctions’ because you are a novice driver receiving a conviction for a single offence carrying 4 or more demerit points. The recent offence carries no demerit points, but will result in a record of conviction if you plead guilty and may therefore have an impact on your insurance.
