Inquiry: Visiting out of province from Ottawa this summer. I was given a letter from the rental car company with an attached violation ticket for going 115 in a 100 with a voluntary payment of $89. I don’t mind paying it, but three questions:

1) are there points attached with this as an Ontario driver? In Ontario, do you get points from out of province red-light-camera tickets? I thought I read that they aren’t.

2) if i fight it, do i have to go to out of province to fight it?  I may just pay the ticket and move on. Actually, it was going 115 in a 100 zone taken from a truck.

Response:  Unfortunately, you are outside of our area of service.  You will need to contact a local legal representative to get assistance with your matter.
