Inquiry:  On Sun. April 13, 2014. I was pulled over while out-of-town. I did not have my current Auto Insurance with me, so I was fined. Later when I read the ticket top to bottom, I noticed that the wrong City was entered for my home address. It said Brantford, ON but should have said Burlington, ON. My brother told me that because of this mistake, I don`t have to pay the fine of $65.00. Is that true and if so, what is my next step…who do i contact.

Response:  Unfortunately, your brother is incorrect and not paying the fine would result in your licence being suspended for non-payment of fine.  It is important to seek out proper legal advice when you have been charged to ensure that you are aware of your rights, potential defences, and available options.  Virtually every week our staff encounters Defendants who have received not only incorrect, but potentially hazardous, information from the Internet or a well-intentioned family member or friend.  If you would like to review you case in more detail, we offer a no-cost initial review of matters via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
