Inquiry:  last September I got a red light ticket in Hamilton-Dundern and King St.  The ticket was $325 so I applied for option 2, early resolution. I realize I made a mistake by failing to stop, but I was hoping to have the fine reduced. What do you think the chances are? Now I am worried that I did the wrong thing and should have paid it, but it was so expensive. I am under the impression that by applying for option 2 I could make that request. Is that correct?

Response:  We would need to know specifically whether you’ve been charged by police, or whether you’ve been charged by a red light camera.  The charge issued by a police officer carries 3 demerit points.  Historically, we have generally been able to have these charges reduced to a lesser 0 demerit point offence so long as no collision has been involved.  If you would like to discuss your case in more detail to get more accurate feedback, we offer a no-cost initial review of cases via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
