Inquiry: 9-10 years ago I plead guilty to driving without insurance. The fine was $5000 and I couldn’t pay it and haven’t driven since. Does the fine and infraction clear off the books after a certain amount of years or do I still have to pay it? I’d like to be able to drive again if possible. Thank you.
Response: The fine will almost certainly still be on the books and will have accrued interest, and your licence will likely be suspended for the unpaid fine for operate no insurance. Best approach would be to talk to a Court Clerk to see how much is owing, and what options are currently available for paying the fine.
