Inquiry: Got caught at 70km/h in 50 zone just off of a highway ramp where it merges into local traffic (cop hidden on the side curb) — is there a defending case to be made here? Thanks!
Response: At 20 km/h over the posted speed limit, a conviction will result in 3 demerit points on your driver’s licence. Usually a speeding ticket like this one (assuming a reasonable driving record and no reduction in the rate of speed at roadside) can be reduced to a lesser 0 demerit point offence. Whether there would be a grounds to have the charge dismissed outright, we would have to wait until we have had a release of evidence from the Prosecutor’s Office. If you would like to discuss contesting the charge, we offer a no-cost initial review of matters via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
