Inquiry: Hi. I was recently caught on a red light cam. To keep it nice and short, The letter stated that the amber light showed for 3.3s. It showed red for 000.4 seconds as I approached the intersection, I was literally at the line. Then it said the light showed red for 1.4 s as I passed through the intersection. The speed limit of the road is 50kmph. Is there anyway I can get out of paying the 325?
Response: The camera-based red light charges do not show on the driving record and do not carry demerit points. As such, retaining legal representation would generally cost more than the cost of the ticket. You could however speak to a court clerk to see if the court would agree to reduce the fine.
