Inquiry:  I got a couple of tickets – speeding 69 KM in. 50 KM zone and invalid licence plate sticker. Officer said not to worry – just go renew sticker and ask for trial. Also gave me 2 tickets for the sticker offence. he said he was going to reduce speeding but couldn’t because of the licence sticker issue. later on, I Noticed that on description of of fence, he indicated wrong direction – south bound (s/b) instead of Northbound. Is this grounds for dismissal?

Response:  That would almost certainly not be grounds for a dismissal of the charge.  The speeding offence is a 3 demerit point penalty if it goes to conviction.  Generally we can at least get the demerit points on the speeding charge reduced to 0.  The Prosecutor may or may not be agreeable to withdrawing one or both of the other charges as the validation was expired on the offence date.  If you would like to discuss your case in more detail, we offer a no-cost initial review of cases via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
