Inquiry:  I have received a ticket for failing to stop for a school bus. I didn’t do it. I believe this is a case of mistaken identity seeing as I wasn’t stopped for at least 1 minute (closer to 2) and 3 turns from when I was in the are in question. The officer put the location on the ticket as Tranby & Matthew Brady when in fact it HAD to be Tranby & St. Paul (the bus route doesn’t go up to Matthew Brady). I don’t believe he saw anything at all and was acting on the information relayed to him by another officer about another car.

Response:  You have likely been charged with a 7 demerit point offence, the highest possible demerit point penalty that the MTO can impose.  Before meeting with the Prosecutor to discuss your case, we will have received a full disclosure of the evidence to be used against you and can make an informed decision on whether there is a grounds to have the charge dropped, reduced, or whether trial would be the resolution to your matter.  School Bus charges are very serious offences and carry very heavy penalties.  If you would like to discuss your matter further, we offer a no-cost initial review of cases via our toll-free number 1-866-801-8299.
