Inquiry: I received a speeding ticket for 10km over in Markham Ontario. The ticket has a couple of miskates. The first is: my name is incorrectly spelt and the second mistake relates to the plate. The officer noted it as an ontario plate rather than a quebec plate. The certifcate is also not signed? Can any of this be used to have the ticket dismissed.
Response: Of the issues that you’ve mentioned, the only one that may potentially be a grounds for dismissal would be the lack of signature. However, the Officer may have signed his copy to certify service when filing the ticket with the Court. For identification, the Officer will likely have included your driver’s licence number on the ticket and noted the use of valid photo ID at roadside in his notes.
