Inquiry: Hi, I got a speeding ticket for 20 over, however the officier reduced it to 1km over. So I now have a ticket that says I was doing 1 km over. Would this make for an easy appeal. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
Response: It is very uncommon to see a Speeding charge reduced from 20 km/h over the speed limit to 1 km/h over the speed limit. Usually at most such a charge would be reduced to 15 km/h over the speed limit. At trial a Prosecutor could seek to have the charge ammend back up to the original rate of speed, so the defence of such charges must be done carefully to prevent such an issue.
