Question: I was pulled over for doing 87 in a 60 in Toronto but my ticket was reduced
to 70 (10 over) and no points. If i pay it, will my insurance premiums go
up as if it were a conviction?
Answer: A charge of SPEEDING 70/60 will place the charge in the bottom-most bracket of speeding charges (1 to 15 km/h above the posted speed limit). Whether or not your insurance rates will go up will depend upon a number of factors and which insurance company you are with. To get the most accurate information, I would recommend contacting your broker to make an inquiry without identifying yourself by name or policy number.
