New legislation in Ontario prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving. This includes cell phones, blackberry devices, Iphones, Ipads, PDAs or any other phone, messaging or music device while operating your motor vehicle on the roadway. Hands-free devices are allowed. You also cannot program your G.P.S. device while driving or use a laptop or netbook or book reading device.
Upon conviction, this charge does not carry any demerit points. The fines will range from $60.00 to $500.00.
It is always a good idea to look into disputing any offence. Demerits or not, there is always the possibility of an impact to your insurance rates. |
