Good morning Jennifer,

Can a ticket be served after the fact by mail? Technically, yes. However, with a charge like speeding there would be some serious problems for the Prosecutor to overcome. The probability of a driver being served with a charge of Speeding after the fact would be incredibly low if they were not originally stopped at roadside. If you have been served with a charge after the fact, then the charge needs to be responded to at Court and I would recommend contacting one of our staff to discuss the matter in more detail. Our toll-free number is 1-866-801-8299.

Sincerely,
Greg Currie

Good morning Sherry,

Unfortunately parking tickets are outside of our usual area of practice. There may well be regulations regarding the size and positioning of handicap parking signs that you could track down through the municipal or federal government. If the parking spot was poorly marked, you may be able be able to make an argument at Court.

Are there any regulations set by the City of Hamilton with respect to the size and positioning of the posted handicap parking sign? I also have recently parked in a disabled parking spot but there are no markings on the ground except for a small sign posted in the corner of the parking spot.

If your case is an Ontario one, the charge carries 6 demerit points. There is an alternate lesser offence that carries 0 demerit points that you may have been charged with or that the more serious offence can be negotiated down to. At 6 or more demerit points on a G2 licence, you will be required to attend a interview at the MTO to determine if your licence will be suspended or not. I would recommend discussing your case with one of our staff at 1-866-801-8299.

Sincerely,
Greg Currie

Happy to be of assistance Susan. Bring your collision report as well. It would also be helpful to write out a statement of what occurred while the details are fresh in your memory.

Sincerely,
Greg Currie

The effect on your insurance and demerit points depends on your rate of speed and the posted speed limit. If you would like to submit that information as a blog question, we can provide you a more helpful response. You can also contact one of our staff directly at either 310-HOPE or 1-866-801-8299.

Sincerely,
Greg Currie
