Speeding Ticket

Question: I received a speeding ticket for doing 73km/h in a 50km/h zone – first offence in over 15 years of driving. The date written on the ticket was incorrect. Is this grounds for dismisal.

Answer: The incorrect date may be a grounds for a dismissal. I would recommend having one of our staff review the ticket and discuss the details of your case. At 23 km/h over the speed limit, the charge carries 3 demerit points. Depending on your driving record and the details of your case, we may be able to reduce the demerit points to zero or have the charge eliminated completely.

The effect on your insurance and demerit points depends on your rate of speed and the posted speed limit. If you would like to submit that information as a blog question, we can provide you a more helpful response. You can also contact one of our staff directly at either 310-HOPE or 1-866-801-8299.
